Fellowship Program of the Overseas Development Institute (ODI)

The ODI Scholarship Program is now open to applications. The program assigns young, highly motivated ODI fellows as   economists and statisticians to   public sector positions in developing country governments under two-year contracts. ODI fellows are employed as local officials reporting to local directors. Fellows work in institutions ranging from ministries of finance and planning to ministries of health and education, central banks, statistical offices and regulatory agencies.

ODI’s scholarship program is very competitive and extremely prestigious. ODI fellows have successfully pursued their careers at the World Bank, the IMF, DFID UK and a wide range of public and private sector organizations. looking for candidates with excellent academic qualifications, good knowledge of the application of economic and statistical theory to real-world problems, ability to communicate economic and statistical ideas to non-specialists and willingness to integrate into cultural and social domains often very different bureaucratic environments.

Eligibility

This call is open to candidates of all nationalities provided they hold a master’s degree or doctorate. in economics, statistics or a related discipline. Assignments are determined primarily by the needs of partner governments rather than by the preferences of the candidates themselves.

Advantages

Fellows receive a total package equivalent to £ 21,000 per year (rising to £ 23,000 in the second year), plus a housing allowance.
