Summary of Job Duties:

The Assistant Director of Technology is responsible for assisting with the back-of-house operations for all performances in the Faulkner Performing Arts Center and Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall on the University of Arkansas campus. Primary responsibilities include working with both student-based and professional work crews; assisting with budgeting and advancing performances/events; and equipment and facility maintenance. This position reports directly to the Technical Director of the Faulkner Performing Arts Center (FPAC). This position will work directly with the Technical Director on scheduling, setup, teardown, maintenance, and day-to-day operations of the hall. On media, the position will work directly with video equipment to setup and tear down multi-media sources and routing them to and from different areas of the venue in a virtual environment. The position will also work with a lighting console to program show cues. This includes an understanding of fixture function, operation, and focus. Set up may include as little as a single microphone and running a console for that microphone up to patching a multi-input stage using a stage plot and
mixing the performance.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

  • Experience mixing, installing, setting up/tearing down audio, video, and lighting equipment including patching and troubleshooting
