INTEGRATED MASTER & PHD TRAINING IN NEUROSCIENCES
What makes the PhD program at the Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences (GSN-LMU) so attractive?
- Interdisciplinarity: flexible degree structure and broad exposure to various research fields and projects;
- Internationality: more than 60% of students come from abroad and thrive in the international environment;
- Integrated Teaching Concept with comprehensive scientific training and ECTS-based grading;
- Tradition and Excellence under the umbrella of LMU Munich and the Munich Center for Neurosciences (MCN-LMU).
The scientific environment at the GSN-LMU operates in one of the neuroscience hotspots worldwide, offering excellent cutting-edge research opportunities. The structure of the GSN-LMU doctoral program combines seminars and coursework, based on individual backgrounds and research goals. As such, GSN-LMU students are encouraged to make suggestions of special method training workshops or leading scientists they would like to invite for seminars and discussions.
GSN-LMU offers the opportunity for especially qualified applicants holding a relevant bachelor’s degree to directly enter the PhD program. During the first two semesters of the Fast-Track program (Preparatory Year), students receive basic training in neuroscience, which is in close collaboration with the GSN-LMU associated Master programs “Neurosciences” and “Neurocognitive Psychology”.
In their Preparatory Year, Fast-Track PhD students can choose courses along either a Systemic-Cellular-Molecular Neuroscience focus or a Computational Neuroscience focus. Regardless of the selected focus, all students will also complete coursework within the other area, however, at a less intense level.
Application start: December 1st, 2023
