The EarthTech Challenge is organized and managed by EarthTech (“EarthTech Challenge”, “ETC”, “We”, “Us”, “Our”), a social enterprise based in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, Australia.
Objective of the challenge
Their goal is to enable young people to help solve the biggest environmental and social problems of our time. They aim to inspire, support and scale up technologies dedicated to the sustainability of the Earth, bridging the gaps between youth education, job creation, economic development and environmental sustainability and providing the tools they need to build commercially viable businesses and a tangible impact on global goals. coherently.
To do this, they bring together essential resources: visionary entrepreneurs, subject matter experts, investment capital and a common goal through an unprecedented challenge.
It includes a six-week online course from December 16, 2019 to January 24, 2020, delivered via a cloud platform that provides teams with seamless integration, access to expert educational materials, and mentoring.
The competition aims to achieve and create an exponential impact for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also called global goals. The SDGs are a historic and universal call to action to end poverty, resolve the climate crisis, protect biodiversity and guarantee peace and prosperity for all by 2030.
Individuals and / or teams can fall into one of the following categories: poverty and inequality, food, water and health care, climate and energy, sustainable future and environment and biodiversity. Applications should demonstrate how the concept is linked and aligned with one or more of the SDGs and how technology, creativity and innovation can help achieve global goals.
Each category covers one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Judgment criteria include the impact of a submission on the SDGs , based on the corresponding parameters. Teams are invited to describe the impact on one of the SDGs. The descriptions of the categories are neither exhaustive nor exclusive.

Eligibility
Do you like working on a fun project independently or in a group? Do you like collecting new information, embarking on a discovery tour of your project? Do you like exploring all the elements of your work and collaborating on new innovative platforms? Do you like to reflect on your achievements and generate a valuable asset for the greater good of the world? Then the EarthTech Challenge is for you!
The EarthTech Challenge invites young people from 13 to 29 years old motivated by the passion to solve our most urgent environmental and social problems, through the use of science, technology, communication and design.
Benefits
- Finalists (Designated Team Leader + Representative) will be offered two (2) free travel tickets, two (2) shared accommodations and 3 meals per person / per day for the duration of the ETC Summit at Makepeace Island in Noosa from 20 to 23. February 2020.
- Parents or legal guardians are required to accompany winners under the age of 18. EarthTech will provide travel and accommodation for tutors.
- All expenses incurred to participate in the challenge and / or the summit are at the discretion of the participants and under their sole responsibility. ETC, its judges and competition partners will not be responsible for the disbursements and expenses of any participant related to the EarthTech Challenge or the Summit.
- Entrants are solely responsible for all applicable taxes or other government charges of any federal, state or local authority that may be due as a result of winning a prize or obtaining any opportunity as a result of ETC . All participants should seek independent advice regarding tax and other obligations related to winning a prize or receiving other benefits due to ETC.
