Offer Description

A postdoctoral fellowship is available from the CNR Nanotec, Rome Italy, to study the molecular and functional impact of the tumor microenvironment (TME) on glioblastoma cancer.

The project is very challenging but innovative and provides the opportunity to learn state-of-the-art scaffold fabrication techniques aiming to develop faithful in vitro cancer models for a better understanding of its biology as well as its vulnerability. In particular, the postdoc will capitalize on GSC models and the fabrication of scaffolds through cutting-edge techniques to determine the impact of integrating hypoxic gradients in 3D scaffolds within different rigidities.

Successful candidates will lead experiments, from the design to conducting experiments, performing analyses, and producing manuscripts. We encourage postdocs to compete for fellowship funding and grants whenever possible.

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist willing to apply a wide range of cutting-edge cell and molecular biology techniques (cell cultures, organotypic models, PCR, western blot and immune-related assays, etc.), as well as experience of microfabrication and imaging.

Job requirements:
· PhD in Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology or other related disciplines
· Background knowledge of Chemistry/Chemical engineering/ Materials Engineering/ Biotechnology/ Biomedical Engineering will be preferable.
· Solid expertise in cellular and molecular biology
· Strong motivation and research commitment
· Excellent analytical and organization skill
· Ability to work in team conjugated with independence
· Fluency in English

Previous experience with hydrogels, biochemistry, molecular biology and biotechnology, standard histochemistry and immunohistochemistry is a clear plus.
A robust track record of publication and innovation is advised.

Competitive salaries will depend on the candidate’s track record and experience. According to current rules, foreign candidates and Italian candidates working abroad may be eligible for generous tax benefits upon relocation. The position is for one year and is renewable.
