Quel est l’objectif de la ligne de financement ?
Qui est éligible au financement ?
Chercheurs postdoctoraux (de nationalité étrangère) invités par un professeur de l'Université de Bonn pour un projet de recherche commun. Le boursier doit avoir une affiliation à long terme (recherche ou enseignement) dans une université ou un institut de recherche dans les régions mentionnées ci-dessus au-delà de sa bourse et démontrer une expertise avérée dans un domaine de recherche du spectre thématique des ODD.

Quel est le montant du financement ?
Le financement peut couvrir les éléments suivants :
- Une indemnité de déplacement (selon le pays d'origine)
- Une bourse de 3 000 € par mois (fonds supplémentaires pour les membres de la famille : jusqu'à 300 € pour un conjoint et 250 € par enfant)
- Une allocation pour frais de recherche pouvant aller jusqu'à 500 € par mois.
Quels sont les critères de sélection ?
Les propositions de projets sont évaluées en deux catégories :
- Qualité académique et bénéfice mutuel (50%) : qualité du projet de recherche sur lequel travailler pendant le séjour à Bonn ; travailler sur un sujet qui contribue aux objectifs de développement durable (ODD) tels qu'énoncés par les Nations Unies dans leur Agenda 2030 pour le développement durable ; pertinence du sujet de recherche par rapport aux développements dans la région d'origine ; contribution du boursier à la vie universitaire de Bonn (par exemple via des conférences publiques, des séminaires ou des colloques) ; l'intégration du boursier dans l'institut d'accueil (lieu de travail, intégration dans les activités d'enseignement et de recherche existantes)
- Pertinence stratégique et potentiel de coopération future (50 %) : Intensité de la coopération existante ; des plans pour des relations de recherche à long terme entre le boursier et l'institut hôte à Bonn ; connexion au profil de recherche de Bonn ; comment la recherche sera partagée avec des communautés universitaires plus larges
- Pré-évaluation : anonyme par des experts indépendants de l'Université de Bonn
- Décision finale : un comité composé de représentants de toutes les facultés de l'Université de Bonn discutera de la liste restreinte et sélectionnera les bourses.
- En fonction des montants demandés, jusqu'à cinq projets peuvent être financés

Eligibility
To be eligible for the call 2024 of the MSC-PF you:
- Need to hold a PhD degree. Your thesis must be defended before September 11, 2024.
- Must have a maximum of 8 years of postdoctoral research experience from the date of defense of your PhD and until September 11, 2024. Career breaks (parental leave, military service, work outside research, etc.) do not count towards the amount of research experience.
- Must not have resided or worked in Germany for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the September 11, 2024.

Next steps

- Selected candidates will be invited to join three online MasterClasses organized by the DKFZ Grants Office on June 26, July 3 and July 10, 2024.
- If you are selected by a DKFZ Principal Investigator, the deadline for the submission of the MSC-PF proposal to the European Union is September 11, 2024
- The decision on the award of the MSC-PF is expected in February 2025 and the earliest fellowship start is expected to be April 2025. Note: Submission of a proposal and participation in the support activities do not guarantee a postdoctoral position at the DKFZ. An employment contract may only come to place in case of award of the MSC-PF by the European Commission.

Biopolitics
In the 2025-2026 academic year, we zoom in on the role of biopolitics in the construction, classification, and contention of specific spatialities, temporalities, and affects, constitutive of apocalyptic experiences. We seek proposals that apply the concept of apocalypse to the paradoxical relationship between ambitions to create, foster, augment, and optimize life and various forms of exclusion, erasure, annihilation, and death. Building on common conceptions of biopolitics in political theory, international relations, cultural studies, critical sociology and the humanities more broadly we welcome projects on disciplining individual and collective bodies through regimes of regulatory power. We further welcome approaches that bring these discussions into novel and productive exchanges with inter- and transdisciplinary efforts in the natural, social, and life sciences, exploring notions of bios, politics, and ultimately (post-)apocalypse. The biopolitics of apocalypse may function as an intellectual catalyst for creative engagements within and between diverse communities of knowledge. This includes lived experiences of activists, artists, writers, filmmakers, etc., who seek to untangle the problem of living and dying at the end of world.
Potential projects may address:
- survival, survivance, un/livability, posthuman life, alterlife, afterlife, traumatic life, wasted life, algorithmic life, etc.
- the historical, contemporary, and speculative unfoldings of a biopolitics of feeling, space, and time in the context of the apocalyptic conditions invoked by specific forms of gendered, classed, and racialised instances of colonialism, capitalism, Anthropocene modernity, nuclear threat, climate emergency, militarism, etc.
- implications of apocalyptic biopolitics for broader conceptualisations of knowledge, scholarship, and method
- theoretical or methodological reflections on the overall conceptual frame of CAPAS
The Fellowships
We invite applications for 10 Fellowships for the 2025-2026 academic year. Pending approval by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany, fellowships are available for up to 12 months, including at least one academic term (April to July or October to February). During their fellowship, fellows must reside in Heidelberg and are expected to participate in the centre’s weekly activities. English is the working language at CAPAS.
Fellows who take unpaid leave from their home institution during the fellowship will receive financial compensation in the form of a stipend (approx. 5.000 to 10.000 EUR, calculated individually). Alternatively, if a fellow decides to keep their current salary and contract benefits, CAPAS compensates the fellow's home institution with the corresponding salary for a teaching replacement. Both options are capped by the regulations of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Fellows have access to office spaces and university resources (library, canteen, daycare, etc.). CAPAS also provides support with administrative formalities (visa application, registration, etc.).
Eligibility
The minimum requirement for elegibility is the rank of assistant professor (or equivalent), or more than 5 years of post-doctoral research experience. Activists and artists with substantial experience collaborating with academia are also welcome to submit proposals. CAPAS is strongly committed to diversity and explicitly encourages women* and BIPOC to apply.

The International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) "Chemical Communication in Ecological Systems" in Jena, Germany, invites applications for 5 PhD positions beginning in September 2024 – January 2025. The overarching research topic is the use of molecular, chemical and neurobiological techniques to experimentally explore ecological interactions under natural conditions. The main focus is on the relationship between plants, microbes and herbivores, and their environment, as well as the evolutionary and behavioral consequences of these interactions. We offer 11 exciting projects focusing on different organisms and approaches. We are looking for enthusiastic PhD students with strong interests in the above-described central topic. Applicants should have or be about to obtain a Masters or equivalent degree in one of the following fields: entomology, neurobiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, plant physiology, genetics, ecology, evolutionary biology, bioinformatics, and mathematics and computer science. All our projects are highly integrative and require willingness to closely collaborate with researchers of different backgrounds.
The Research School is a joint initiative of the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology and the Friedrich Schiller University. We offer state-of-the art equipment, an excellent research environment, supervision by a thesis committee and a structured training program including scientific courses, training in transferable and outreach skills and participation in research symposia. Successful candidates will receive a Max Planck support contract. There are no tuition fees and the working language is English.

Call for applications for Multiple PhD Positions at the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) for Quantum Dynamics and Control (QDC) in Dresden, Germany
We are looking for highly talented and motivated students from all around the world. The standard entrance qualification is a master’s degree (or an equivalent university degree, e.g., German “Diplom”) in physics, chemistry, mathematics, or computer science.
The thesis work is complemented by a comprehensive training program in English. The PhD degree will be conferred by the Technical University in Dresden or by one of the partner institutions.
Multiple PhD positions will be awarded on a competitive basis. Successful candidates will receive support fully covering living expenses.
This IMPRS, which is devoted to addressing some of the central contemporary themes in theoretical and computational physics, chemistry, and materials science, seeks young scientists for its doctoral program. It offers excellent research facilities at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems as well as at its partner institutions in Dresden, in particular the Technical University Dresden, and internationally, in the Czech Republic and Poland.

INFORMATIONS POUR LES CANDIDATS
- Environ 20 bourses Erasmus Mundus de 1400€/mois sur 24 mois maximum sont proposées chaque année.
- Les étudiants du monde entier , sans restriction d'origine géographique, sont invités à postuler.
- L'attribution des bourses est toutefois soumise à la contrainte géographique suivante : pas plus de 10 % du nombre total de bourses attribuées pendant l'existence du programme de master QuanTEEM peuvent être attribuées à des candidats de même nationalité. Quelques bourses supplémentaires destinées à des régions spécifiques du monde, qui ne sont pas soumises à la règle ci-dessus, sont également disponibles.
- Un candidat ayant bénéficié d'une bourse Erasmus Mundus dans le passé ne peut pas bénéficier d'une bourse Erasmus Mundus pour suivre le programme de master QuanTEEM.
- Pour postuler, les candidats doivent être titulaires d'un baccalauréat en sciences (180 ECTS) ou d'un diplôme équivalent. Cependant, une solide formation en physique est nécessaire pour être prise en compte pour l'admission. Des compétences en mathématiques et en informatique sont un plus, mais ne peuvent remplacer des connaissances approfondies en physique acquises au cours des études de premier cycle.
- Les candidats sont tenus de mentionner clairement leur pays de résidence au moment de leur candidature. Le pays de résidence est défini au sens de résidence stable, comme par exemple le pays où le demandeur a exercé ses dernières activités d'études professionnelles ou académiques.
- Au cours de leurs études de master, les étudiants de QuanTEEM doivent effectuer au moins deux mobilités physiques internationales (y compris la mobilité internationale entrante), par rapport à leur pays de résidence.

INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS
- Approximately 20 Erasmus Mundus scholarships of 1400€/month over a maximum of 24 months are offered each year.
- Students from all over the world, without restriction of geographical origin, are welcome to apply.
- Scholarship award is, however, subject to the following geographical constraint: no more than 10% of the total number of scholarships awarded during the existence of the QuanTEEM master’s programme can be awarded to candidates from the same nationality. A few additional scholarships targeted to specific regions of the world, which are not subject to the above rule, are also available.
- A candidate who benefited from an Erasmus Mundus scholarship in the past can not be awarded an Erasmus Mundus scholarship to attend the QuanTEEM master’s programme.
- To apply, candidates must hold a bachelor degree in Science (180 ECTS) or an equivalent diploma. However, a strong background in physics is necessary to be considered for admission. Skills in mathematics and computer science are a plus, but cannot replace deep knowledge in physics acquired during undergraduate studies.
- Applicants are required to clearly mention their country of residence at the moment of application. The country of residence is defined in the sense of stable residence, such as the country where the applicant had his last professional or academic study activities.
- During the course of their master studies, QuanTEEM students need to undergo at least two physical international mobilities (including the incoming international mobility), whith respect to their country of residence.

The research group Cyber-Physical Systems of Prof. Matthias Althoff at the Technical University of Munich offers a PhD position in the area of safe autonomous trucks in collaboration with MAN Truck & Bus. The Technical University of Munich is one of the top research universities in Europe fostering a strong entrepreneurial spirit and international culture.

Project and Job Description
Trucks transport the most goods worldwide: In Europe, they account for around 70% of freight traffic. However, 44% of long-distance drivers would not choose their profession again and 94% of logistics companies are currently struggling with driver shortages. In addition, around 90% of truck accidents are caused by human error. Autonomous trucks are the answer to many major challenges facing the modern trucking industry: Increasing truck uptime, driver productivity, driver shortages, safety, and environmental friendliness.
A major obstacle towards this promising future is to guarantee in a mathematically provable way that the automated system always works correctly in diverse environments with varying road and weather conditions and a varying degree of collaboration of traffic participants. This endeavor is especially challenging since each traffic situation is different and thus automated driving cannot be verified beforehand, requiring that the vehicle verifies itself periodically given the current traffic situation.
We address the important requirement to guarantee safe, correct, and coordinated motion of automated truck by establishing a framework, which integrates the consideration of traffic rules, maneuver and trajectory planning, and formal verification in a unique framework to provide intrinsic correctness. We will specify traffic rules and further specifications with temporal logics. These specifications will be checked using reachability analysis.
The developed methods will be tested in real trucks provided by MAN Truck & Bus. Since physical test drives are costly and time-consuming, we will accompany them with computer simulations. In order to automatically generate challenging traffic scenarios, we will also use the developed methods to control other traffic participants in a way that challenges the decision making of the truck.

- Excellent Master’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, engineering, or related disciplines (typically mathematics, physics).

- Vous devez demander un visa auprès de l’ambassade ou du consulat allemand de votre pays d’origine. Vous devrez présenter les mêmes documents que pour le visa de travail pour professionnels qualifiés, ainsi qu'une preuve de vos compétences et de votre expérience en informatique.
- Vous devrez également payer des frais de visa et assister à un entretien.
- Si votre visa est approuvé, vous pouvez voyager en Allemagne et enregistrer votre adresse au bureau d'enregistrement local dans les 14 jours suivant votre arrivée.

- Vous devez être titulaire d'un baccalauréat ou supérieur obtenu en Allemagne ou dans une université reconnue en dehors de l'Allemagne.
- Vous devez avoir au moins cinq années d'expérience professionnelle pertinente dans votre domaine d'études.
- Vous devez disposer de suffisamment de fonds pour couvrir vos frais de subsistance pendant six mois en Allemagne (environ 853 euros par mois).
- Vous devez avoir une assurance maladie qui vous couvre en Allemagne.
- Vous devez avoir des connaissances de base en allemand (niveau A1).
- Vous devez demander un visa auprès de l’ambassade ou du consulat allemand de votre pays d’origine. Vous devrez soumettre les documents suivants :

- Il s'agit d'un nouveau type de visa qui sera introduit en 2023. Il est basé sur un système de points qui évalue votre potentiel en tant que travailleur qualifié en Allemagne. Les points sont calculés selon différents critères, tels que :
- Âge
- Éducation
- L'expérience professionnelle
- Compétences linguistiques
- Adaptabilité
- Perspectives d'emploi
- Vous devez obtenir au moins 70 points sur 100 pour pouvoir prétendre à la carte d'opportunité.
- Vous devez demander la carte d'opportunité en ligne via un portail dédié. Vous devrez soumettre les documents suivants :

The Health + Life Science Alliance Heidelberg Mannheim is looking for outstanding junior scientists, including clinician scientists, for bridging projects between two or more Alliance partner institutions. Suitable candidates may choose from a wide variety of innovative, interinstitutional projects proposed by project leaders of the Alliance. Alternatively, applicants are also welcome to define their own research project with at least two PIs at different Alliance partner institutions. The priority area for support is basic and translational research in the areas of cancer research, cardiovascular research, neuropsychiatric diseases, genomics, synthetic immunology, molecular engineering, medical technologies, and novel applications of AI approaches in health and life science research. Candidates must hold a PhD, MD or MD/PhD degree at project start.
Interinstitutional Postdoctoral Positions (f/m/d)
What we offer:
- Accepted fellows will be provided a 2-year contract at an Alliance partner institution with earliest start date in August/September 2024.
- Clinician scientists will receive 12 months of funding from the Alliance for the research project over a period of 24 months during the "Facharztausbildung"/specialist medical training. The 12 months for the clinical position must be guaranteed by the employing hospital/PI where the "Facharztausbildung"/specialist medical training will be performed.
- This inter-institutional program offers an excellent interdisciplinary scientific environment.
- The program offers access to high-end technologies and state-of-the-art labs at world-class research institutions in the life sciences at the campus environment of Heidelberg University in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, one of the largest biomedical research hubs in Europe.
- Through the unique expertise across the institutions, we offer you the exclusive opportunity to gain insight into transfer of knowledge and the development of new applications.
- Remuneration is based on the usual rates for postdocs or doctors (TV-L/ TV-Ä or equivalent).
