The Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy (JSGS) is recruiting for a tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, starting July 1, 2024. The position will be based at our University of Saskatchewan (USask) campus in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain a highly productive research program, teach courses, supervise graduate students, participate in public engagement and outreach, and contribute to administrative activities. The Assistant or Associate Professor will teach across JSGS’s academic programs (master’s and PhD programs and several graduate certificates).

Candidate Qualities

We are looking for a new scholarly colleague with a doctoral degree in political science, public administration, economics, or a related social science discipline. They will have a research track record in an area related to Canadian health policy or social policy and the use of evidence in public policymaking in Canada. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate promise of excellence in research, teaching, and public engagement.

The ability to add to JSGS’s research expertise, methodological diversity, excellence in online teaching, and public engagement will be strong assets. Candidates with training in experimental approaches are encouraged to apply. Experience in the public sector and/or other applied policy contexts would be an asset.

Details

The successful candidate will be offered a tenure-stream appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The current salary range for Assistant Professors is $99,945 to $120,099 per annum; for Associate Professors, the annual salary ranges from $120,099 to $140,253.

This position includes a comprehensive benefits package, which includes a dental, health, and extended vision care plan; pension plan, life insurance (compulsory and voluntary), academic long-term disability, sick leave, travel insurance, death benefits, an employee assistance program, a professional expense allowance, and a flexible health and wellness spending program.

About JSGS

The Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, a joint school of the universities of Regina and Saskatchewan, is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. With more than 50 research and teaching faculty, staff, managers, and directors, as well as more than 40 affiliates and two dozen research assistants and postdoctoral fellows, the School provides theoretically grounded, methodologically rigorous, and evidence-informed non-partisan perspectives on public policy issues and practices.
