As part of the recently awarded prestigious EIC Transition Grant we are looking for a Chemical engineer (m/f/d).

The main goal of the project is to bring fundamental research results from the laboratory to an industrially relevant scale. We will ultimately seek commercialization of our bio-based products

FIELDS OF ACTIVITY

    • Valorization of renewable waste-streams to value-added, bio-based products
    • Circular economy & Green chemistry
    • Process upscaling from lab-scale to kg scale, including process intensification
    • Optimization of developed synthesis routes
    • Description of material and energy flows/ construction of drawings of scaling activities and prototypes
    • Techno-economic evaluation of developed processes
    • Produce project reports and publish research results in reputed journals
    • Presenting at meetings with industrial partners and project advisory board members

YOUR PROFILE

  • PhD in chemical engineering or a related degree
  • Experience in process intensification and upscaling of organic chemistry transformations
  • Knowledge of the field of Green Chemistry and circular economy-related subjects
  • Prior experience with research related to renewable resources including analysis
  • Strong academic credentials, international profile is a plus
  • Ability to work in a team with special focus on integration of chemistry & engineering and business concepts
  • Motivated, excellent time management and independent project management capabilities

WE OFFER

  • Minimum salary 4061,50 EUR gross/month (Salary scheme B1, University Collective Agreement)
  • Starting-date: 01.05.2022 – with an up to 3-year full time (40 h/week) contract
  • A dynamic and multidisciplinary research environment with state-of-the-art equipment
  • Possibility to be involved in entrepreneurial training and the founding of a spin-off

About the working group

Research in the Barta Group is centered around Green Chemistry and sustainable catalysis with special focus on the conversion of renewable resources while combining approaches in homogeneous catalysis, heterogeneous catalysis as well as the use of alternative solvents. Activities also include biopolymer analytics and the development of innovative biorefinery approaches. We aim to establish a strong program towards circular bioproducts including bio-based polymers, fine chemicals as well as carbon-neutral liquid transportation fuels.
