The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung awards full scholarships to international students

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung awards full scholarships to international students for a master’s degree, a doctorate or a research stay of at least four semesters at a university in Germany.

Type of promotion

Financial support
The amount and duration of financial support depends on the study objective. Graduates, ie students in the master’s or postgraduate degree, receive a monthly grant of € 861.00. The standard funding period here is two years. Doctoral candidates, provided that they have met the requirements for admission to a doctorate at a university in the Federal Republic of Germany without any conditions, as well as scholarship holders with a university degree comparable to the German master’s degree who come to Germany for research purposes and who have at least two years of academic activity at the start of the scholarship period can provide evidence of receiving a monthly scholarship of € 1,200. The standard funding period for doctoral candidates is three years.

We also pay a number of grants and allowances: On request, we subsidize the costs of health and long-term care insurance up to an amount of € 120. A family allowance of € 276 can also be paid if the spouse stays in Germany for more than three months. For children traveling with you, a monthly child benefit of € 194 can be paid after submitting a German translation of the birth certificate and a rejection letter for state child benefit from the family benefits office.

We also subsidize research trips by doctoral students abroad, but not for attending scientific congresses and symposia.

Tuition fees incurred at the university can, in exceptional cases and on request, be reimbursed with up to € 1,500 per semester. However, costs incurred in connection with enrollment or re-registration (student union social contribution, semester ticket, etc.) or de-registration cannot be reimbursed.

Non-material support
To be a scholarship holder of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation does not only mean receiving financial support, but also being part of an active network. In our non-material support, we rely on three pillars: on personal support from the speakers of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and our liaison lecturers at the universities, on our course-accompanying seminar program and on the university groups supported by the scholarship holders themselves .
