POSTDOC POSITION for a highly motivated graduate student to join a productive and collaborative research group working on the genetics of psychiatric illness – especially PTSD and substance use disorders. Work will focus on (a) genetics of posttraumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety, substance use disorders, and many related psychiatric traits in the uniquely-informative Million Veteran Program dataset; and (b) Psychiatric Genomics Consortium projects including these traits, and © studies in non-European populations. Through these and several other current projects, we explore large datasets including the Million Veteran Program and the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium. Other projects include a pharmacogenomics clinical trial for depression taking place in the VA system; a study of methamphetamine genetics in Thailand; a new mental health biobank project in the MVP; and studies of epigenetics of psychiatric traits. The ideal candidate should hold an MD or PhD, and have a strong background in human genetics, including knowledge of genomewide methods, including GWAS and post-GWAS analysis; and comfort with bioinformatics. The candidate should also be able to work cooperatively with peers at Yale and with many other collaborators nationally and internationally; and bring research to publication.
