Abdou Sall Fall is a final year student in a business school in Dakar. To accompany his comrades in their internship search, he launched InternWay. His vision ? Breaking down the language barrier to bring Francophone and Anglophone Africans closer together.
I would like a Senegalese to easily launch a business in Ghana, without cultural or linguistic barrier.
BEARING LACK OF SKILLS IN ENGLISH
To validate his training, Abdou Sall Fall had to follow an internship in a company in an English speaking country and pass his Toefl. But here, in the absence of specialized actors , he and his comrades found themselves somewhat left to their own devices.
There are many independent consultants who help students find an internship in The Gambia or Ghana , but they do not accompany them in their integration once there. For their part, the language centers prepare students for Toefl, but do not offer help in finding an internship.
In studying the job market in Senegal, he also notes a strong need for English skills . ” Companies are looking for collaborators fluent in English. There is a real deficit of languages in Senegal. “
Through his personal experience, Abdou Sall Fall is given a mission to avoid his future comrades to face the same difficulties as him. Quickly, the InternWay project is set up and welcomes the first trainees.
FIND A STAGE DISCOVERING A NEW COUNTRY
InternWay supports students in their search for an internship in an English environment. But not only. The program also plans to follow students during their stay, facilitating their cultural immersion as much as possible .
Find affordable housing, know the best student plans to move, eat or visit the country … It is a network of local partners that Abdou is in the process of weaving. First in The Gambia, the nearest English-speaking country, then soon to Ghana.
If they wish, students can also take specific courses with specialized teachers to prepare their Toefl . “Our first indicator of success is the good integration of the trainee, taking into account his well-being. For this, we do a continuous work of control and management before and during his stay. “
RECONCILING FRANCOPHONE AFRICA AND ANGLOPHONE AFRICA
If InternWay is so important to him, it is because his founder has a vision: to help Africans better understand each other . Resolutely Pan-African, Internway aims to foster better sub-regional integration. The goal ? ” Breaking down the language barrier to contribute to mutual social and cultural respect”.
By accompanying Senegalese students in their cultural immersion in an English-speaking environment, he also wants to enable them to develop their ability to adapt.
We also want to allow students who have a business project to be able to interact with startups in the sub-region and test their idea in markets other than Senegal.
For the moment, InternWay is targeting Senegalese students in higher schools. But Abdou Sall Fall keeps the idea that the need for English skills is also felt by working professionals and companies. Its goal: to create an InternWay network throughout the sub-region and to train future young leaders of tomorrow.
