For the first time in its history, Canada receives 900,000 foreign students

Canadian Immigration Minister Mark Miller announced that his country will receive 900,000 foreign students this year, an unprecedented number in its history.

Miller said in an interview with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation that Canada is on its way to receive 900,000 foreign students this year, which is a very large number unprecedented in the country’s history, and is almost 3 times the number of those who entered the country 10 years ago.

Miller noted that the university system that attracts foreign students to Canada is “very lucrative but with some harmful effects and some fraud in the system, some people are taking advantage of what is seen as a back door to get into Canada.”

He said that private and public universities generate annual revenues ranging from 20 to 30 billion Canadian dollars (14.7 to 22.1 billion dollars) paid by those who come to study from abroad.
