Eligibility
  • Ability to identify potential problems and trouble-shoot solutions, written, interpersonal, communication skills and initiative.

  • Ability to digest, synthesize, and break down complex content through various teachingchannels.
  • Essential:
      • Minimum master degree level qualification with technical background in any of the following: bioinformatics, computational
      • biology, evolutionary genomics, biostatistics, computer science, or related fields
      • Experience in computational biology, scripting, querying or statistical analysis languages such as python, R, Linux environment for high performance computing.
      • Understanding of modern software development workflow, including version control and continuous integration.
      • In depth knowledge of relevant public and proprietary databases, methods, and tools.
  • Desirable:
      • Experience applying computational approaches to multi-dimensional datasets to deliver insights and hypotheses, e.g., multivariate analyses, Bayesian and machine learning approaches.
      • Experience in design, execution and interpretation of in vivo and/or in vitro biological experiments generating large NGS datasets
      • Previous work with mosquitoes, or knowledge and ecology of mosquitoes will be an added advantage
      • Experience working with cloud computing environment
      • Experience in successfully leading teams
      • English and French are the working languages of the PAMCA Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another working language (French, Portuguese) is an added advantage.

Coverage
  • This is a 2-year fixed term full-time training fellowship with compensation including monthly stipend to cover living expenses and support for international travel for training purposes.
  • The position is available beginning January 2022- December 2023.
  • No additional benefits is provided for this position.
