Offer Description

The Molecules Initiative for Neglected Diseases Consortium (MINDI) offers 1 post-doctoral opportunity at the University of São Paulo’s São Carlos Institute of Physics (IFSC-USP) in Brazil, with scholarship funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).

Led by researchers at USP and State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), MINDI is jointly funded by FAPESP and two nonprofit organizations, the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) and the Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV).

The researcher will collaborate with DNDi with a focus on discovering new treatments for neglected tropical diseases. The researcher will perform in vitro pharmacokinetic/ADME studies (“ADME” stands for absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion), including solubility, permeability, distribution coefficient and metabolic stability, and phenotypic assays on molecules provided by DNDi.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree obtained within the last 7 years in Brazil or abroad and experience in pharmacokinetic/ADME assays and/or phenotypic assays. Fluency in English and the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams are mandatory.

Candidates should send a Curriculum Vitae and a motivation letter to Prof. Leonardo L. G. Ferreira (leonardo@ifsc.usp.br).

The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral Scholarship worth BRL 9,047.40 per month and a research contingency fund which is equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the scholarship and is intended for activities related to the project during its validity period. The selected candidate who needs to move to São Carlos can request an Installation Grant, subject to approval by FAPESP. The scholarship starts immediately and ends on December 31, 2024, and is not renewable.
