Roddenberry Prize in the fields of education, environment, science or humanity

The Roddenberry Award aims to highlight extraordinary organizations and support their efforts to increase their impact; seek creative approaches from diverse members of our global community; and inspire others to take innovative and creative approaches to global problems.

Four scholarships of $ 250,000 will be awarded to organizations working in the fields of education, the environment, science or humanity. In addition to the four $ 250,000 recipients, up to five organizations in each area will be publicly recognized as finalists.

The criteria for the award are innovation, impact potential, vision and track record.

Dates and details

Prize launch: March 4, 2020
Between March 4 and April 10, you are invited to inquire about the price and complete the request for the first round.
First round deadline: April 10, 2020
Complete registration and submit your request before 5:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
First Round Review: April 13 to May 8, 2020
The Roddenberry Foundation team reviews submissions to ensure they meet eligibility and pricing rules, and a panel of reviewers assess applications for the first round using the scoring section.
Opening of the second round: May 11, 2020
A number of nominations will be invited to submit their nominations for the second round of the award. Only those who are invited to the second round will be considered for the prize. Invited applicants will have four weeks to submit their applications for the second round.
Second round deadline: June 5, 2020
Second round applicants will have three weeks to submit their second round application. All second round nominations must be submitted no later than June 5, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
Second Round Assessment: June 8 to July 13, 2020
The Roddenberry Foundation team, a panel of advisers, assesses applications using the rating criteria.
Announcement of prices: August 2020
The 2020 award winners will be announced on this website, the Roddenberry Foundation website, social media and through press releases.

Eligibility

The Roddenberry Foundation welcomes applications for individuals, non-profit organizations, social enterprises and B-corps who meet all of the following criteria:

  • People aged 18 or over
  • Organizations or institutions with a budget of $ 10 million or less
  • Organizations whose main objective of their work is education, science, the environment or humanity
  • Submit an application in English
  • Include complete responses to all required application questions
  • Accept all legal conditions of the scholarship program
  • Be able to legally receive grants
