Department of Future Technologies, University of Turku, is looking for 1 – 2 fixed-term Project researchers / Doctoral candidates. The positions are in a national ESF project FOCUS on the Management of Wellbeing at Work funded by Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. Universities of Vaasa, Oulu, Lapland, Jyväskylä and Turku, as well as Universities of Applied Sciences of Oulu, Jyväskylä, and Turku, are project partners. They form a coalition of high expertise, experience including information technology, and co-operation. University of Vaasa will coordinate the project.
The work will start as soon as possible according to mutual agreement and ends 28.02.2023. The positions are full-time but can be agreed part-time upon mutual agreement.
The project objectives are: 1) To construct a procedure and the digital tool for assessment and development of work well-being management in firms, which helps them to recognize the development needs, set targets and apply the necessary development activities; 2) to develop and find tools for work well-being management (one of them being the digital application); 3) to spread the procedure and the application all over the country. The ultimate target is to develop work well-being management in firms in the whole country.
The selected applicants will be working in the multi-disciplinary project team with special tasks
- to plan and implement technical work of the digital tool (smartphones and PCs) for assessment and development of work well-being management in firms
- to participate in collection and testing of data for work well-being management needed in the digital tool.
- to develop the digital application and its survey questions at workshops with small and middle-sized enterprises and their staff representing different fields of business (5 to 10 enterprises/region).
Suitable applicants have high motivation for doctoral studies, good programming skills and understand the basics of data analytics.
The applicants should have a suitable higher university degree and good command of Finnish and English languages, both oral and written.

The qualification requirements of the positions are stated in the University of Turku Rules of Procedure. A person selected for the post of Project researcher or Doctoral candidate is required to have a higher university degree. A Doctoral candidate must also have an accepted research plan, and in addition, when acquiring his or her degree or otherwise, he or she is required to have demonstrated the ability and motivation to undertake postgraduate studies and the capacity to complete a doctoral degree in accordance with the research plan.
The salary will be based on levels 2-4 of the demands level chart for teaching and research staff in the salary system applied at Finnish universities, according to which the base salary for the position is 2033,29 – 2535,20 € per month. In addition, a performance-based salary component of min 6% and max 50 % will be paid.
A six (6) month trial period applies to all positions.
