15 PhD students in quantum-dot based quantum technology

The Marie Curie Innovative Training Network QUDOTTECH offers 15 Early-Stage Researchers (ESRs) interdisciplinary, intersectoral and international training in the frame of 15 PhD scholarships. The overall research topic is quantum dot-based quantum technologies. The consortium consists of 11 Beneficiaries in 5 European countries hosting ESRs and 12 Partner Organisations hosting secondments and providing training.

The QUDOTTECH training programme is in line with the European Charter for Researchers, the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers and the EU Principles for Innovative Doctoral Training. Fellows can choose their position among the offers from the academic and non-academic Beneficiaries. ESRs working within industry will be enrolled in a doctoral programme of one of the partaking universities. All fellows will be offered a 3-year employment contract and will start (with some flexibility) in August and September 2020.

The scientific focus lies in building semiconductor quantum dot (QD)-based technologies for future scalable optical quantum information processing. In particular, we will construct a quantum network based on QDs coupled efficiently to each other using optical waveguides. The challenges include constructing sources, both of single and entangled photon pairs, single photon detectors, low-loss waveguides and efficient gates as well as integrating the functionalities in an scalable on-chip platform. The activities include theory, design and numerical simulations, growth, microfabrication, optical characterization and instrumentation.

The hiring of ESRs takes place individually by applying for a specific ESR project. The details of the hiring procedure depends on the hosting institution. Please see the individual ESR project descriptions (http://qudot-tech.cea.fr/Pages/Fellows.aspx) for detailed information about the hiring procedures.
