It’s the pretty story of the day. But it is also the most inspiring. In Alabama, in the United States, an 80-year-old woman has just graduated from university.
Age is just a number and that is what 80-year-old Donzella Washington brilliantly recalls. This woman is a real inspiration. She enrolled at the University of Alabama in the United States to study. With a lot of courage and passion, she therefore returned to the university benches and ended up graduating. Pride for her and a model for many. Donzella thus becomes the dean of the university to have obtained her diploma. It was after the death of her husband Jeff that she decided to live with her daughter and settle in Alabama. In 2013 she started taking courses at Lawson State Community College. She explains to Fox :“Learning is really fun.” In 2017, she graduated. But it is not enough for her who is, at this time of her life, more eager to learn more.
She ends up enrolling at A&M University: “Even if there were a lot of tears and it was necessary to study late at night at 1 or 2 in the morning, I was determined. (…) I I never wanted to stop, “she explains. Donzella Washington thus asserts itself as being a true inspiration. Kimberly, her daughter, is very proud of her. She describes her mother as “a fine example of commitment and strength, perseverance, dedication, compassion and passion” She explains that she does not intend to stop there. In fact, at 80, Donzella still has a lot of plans in mind: “I want to inspire and motivate others to show that age is far from being an obstacle.”
