In recognition of the critical need for scientists and engineers in the Arab world and with the generous support and visionary leadership of former student Yousef Jameel, ‘AUC created the Yousef Jameel Doctoral Fellowships in Applied Science and Engineeringin the fall of 2010. The program is designed to prepare future scientists and industrial leaders of Egyptian nationality with strong knowledge and skills in science and engineering. The program is intended to enable Egyptian graduates qualified in science and engineering to participate in the AUC on a scholarship basis with no tuition fees. The long-term objective of the program is to develop the research and development workforce in the region by providing the skills necessary for future scientists who are easily recruited to important positions in Egypt and the region.
Eligibility
- Open to all nationalities
- Master of Science with a thesis in an engineering or science discipline from an accredited university
- For new students looking for a graduate degree; meet the admission requirements of AUC graduates
- Submission of a satisfactory GRE score, in accordance with the requirements of the doctoral program
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 on a scale of 4.0, or the equivalent
- Submission of a preliminary thesis subject and a research plan, specifying how the subject is linked to one or more of the priority research areas
- Relevant experience and experience in scientific research

Price
The scholarship covers:
- Tuition fees for up to nine credits per semester
- Service and activity fees for students
- A monthly allowance
Responsibilities of fellows:
The program provides for a full-time research position in the AUC doctoral program without professional or outside professional engagement. The medjouel.com team informs you that, in support of their professional training, scholarship recipients are allocated 30 hours per week of research and teaching work in the department, including nine hours of teaching assistants.
By accepting this externally funded scholarship, the scholarship holder agrees to respond to any report request received from the AUC within the deadlines communicated to the scholarship holder. This may include a request for photos or information on academic progress to be used for reporting purposes, or participation in scholarship events, including meetings or events with donors, at the request of the relevant academic entities .
