The University of Leeds is recruiting a Research Assistant in Primary Education

We are looking for a group of research assistants who will deliver reading and listening comprehension tests to 3rd year students (7 and 8 years old) who have participated in REACH Primary. REACH Primary is a randomized controlled trial conducted jointly with EEF and Sheffield Hallam University. You will work with Dr. Paula Clarke, Dr. Peter Hart and their team to liaise with school staff, deliver tests with students and enter data. You will be willing to work under our backup and data management procedures. The tests delivered are those usually carried out by school psychologists and SEN specialists, so you will be comfortable following strict methodological procedures and quickly developing new skills.

You will have exceptional organizational skills, demonstrate excellent attention to detail and demonstrate an awareness of backup issues. You will also show an ability to build relationships with children, some of whom may be anxious with new people. You will have strong communication skills in English and will be able to provide instructions verbally with confidence.

You will have obtained a relevant degree (in a field such as psychology, education, linguistics, social sciences or studies in childhood) and may have experience in assessing children using psychometric tests. You will be ready to travel and work flexibly with the option of staying overnight. You will be able to work under strict procedures and engage in a variety of time-bound tasks. The ability to work in a team is essential. This role will involve certain organizational and administrative tasks to ensure that data collection is recorded accurately.
