The nonlinear quantum photonics group at the department of applied physics is offering a two-years postdoctoral research position

The nonlinear quantum photonics group at the department of applied physics is offering a two-years postdoctoral research position.

As a postdoctoral researcher you will be working on the emerging thin-film lithium niobate on insulator (LNOI) platform, pushing forward the technology for ferroelectric domain engineering and high-confinement photonic circuits with the aim of gaining deeper insights into polarization switching mechanisms and demonstrating novel device concepts at photonic and ferroelectric nanojunctions. An important part of the work is to support experimental activities of current national and international collaborative projects and assist in the training of MSc and PhD students in the group.

Your workplace will be the research unit for quantum and bio photonics at KTH-AlbaNova in Stockholm.

What we offer

  • International workplace.
  • A leading technical university that creates knowledge and expertise for a sustainable future.
  • Here you get colleagues with high ambitions in an open, curious and dynamic environment.
  • A creative and interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Challenging and stimulating tasks at the edge of science and technology.
  • Help to relocate and be settled in Sweden and at KTH

Qualifications

You should possess a proven record of outstanding experimental skills and a strong background in integrated optical devices and micro-/nano- fabrication, combined with a track record of high-quality scientific publications. Familiarity with cleanroom processing and microscopy techniques, as well as experience in the fabrication and characterization of photonic devices and/or periodically poled structures are a requirement for this position. You should be committed to lifelong learning and strongly motivated to pursue research of high standard, show dedication to your work, be open to collaboration and possess good communication skills. Good command of written and spoken English is also a requirement.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.

Preferred qualifications

Experience in ferroelectric domain structuring in lithium niobate and experimental work in nonlinear optics are desirable. A proven record of student supervision and training is also a merit. As a person you are ready to take on new challenges and work hard, have the capability to work independently, but are also a good team player, willing to support junior members. You thrive in and are willing to actively contribute to a dynamic, multidisciplinary and supportive work environment, nurturing collaboration, internationalization, diversity and equal opportunities.
