Position Description

The Department of Medicine in the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services (http://www.albertahealthservices.ca) invites applications for a Contingent Term position with research focus on osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease at the Assistant Professor level.

Qualifications required include a MD, certification in Internal Medicine, eligibility for regular or special licensure in the Province of Alberta, sub-specialty certification in Endocrinology.  Candidates must have evidence of strong clinical training, publication record and evidence of an emerging or established academic program of research in the areas of osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease.  The candidate must show evidence of a proven record of excellence in research as demonstrated by scholarly publications and the ability to compete successfully for funding. This will entail the publication of at least 15 peer-reviewed papers, with the majority as 1st or senior author.  Applicants with publications in high impact (IF >10) will be preferred.

The successful candidate will be involved in research activities and would participate in teaching at the University of Calgary in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical and academic programs. The position will have 60% protected time for research.  Duties will include providing clinical care at the inpatient and outpatient Endocrinology Service.
