About us
The School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences is dedicated to leading the way in local and global innovations in pharmacy practice, laboratory medicine, and biomedical, pharmaceutical and pharmacological sciences. With the support of experienced, dedicated teaching staff and modern facilities, we help aspiring pharmacists and biomedical scientists to develop the right knowledge, skills and attributes to excel in their professional or academic careers.
The school offers a range of undergraduate courses, including the only accredited pharmacy course in Western Australia, an AIMS-accredited program in laboratory medicine, and courses in molecular genetics and biotechnology, human biology preclinical, and oral health therapy. We provide postgraduate courses in pharmacy and biomedical sciences.
The school is committed to research excellence and innovation, through collaborative links with other research institutions, the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, healthcare providers and government. Our staff have research expertise and experience in key areas of the pharmaceutical, biological and clinical sciences, as well as the professional practice of pharmacy. The school’s research strategy is closely integrated with the Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute (CHIRI) and together, the two areas seek to implement a bold new strategy that will lead to a step change in biomedical research outcomes for the University and a growing national and international profile.
Your new role
Curtin University is looking for an inspirational leader to inspire excellence and continuous improvement in research and innovation, learning and teaching, engagement and impact within the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences. Our next Head of School will be an international leader who is committed to enhancing the global reputation of the school. A commitment to leadership and staff development is considered essential for this role.
You will bring to the role
Demonstrated passion and vision to engage academic and non-academic colleagues, students and industry partners in a long-term strategy focussed on outcomes and excellence aligned with the Faculty and the school.
Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Health Sciences you will provide strong strategic and operational leadership and management to oversee the delivery of world-class research and innovative teaching that foster collaboration both within the school and between the school and other areas of the University to grow Curtin’s domestic and international standing while fostering outstanding relationships with relevant government, business, professional bodies and the wider community.
You will exemplify and promote Curtin’s values of Integrity, Respect, Courage, Excellence and Impact, and you will encourage and promote these values in others to foster a collegial and inclusive culture.
