Call for applications | André Chastel Laureates

The National Institute of Art History and the Académie de France in Rome – Villa Medici are opening the call for applications for the selection of the 2021 André Chastel laureates .

Since 2010, the National Institute of Art History (INHA) and the Académie de France in Rome – Villa Medici have awarded two  scholarships  each year  for postdoctoral research on art from the Renaissance to the present day. .

These grants are intended for researchers in the history of art, French or foreign, wishing to go to Rome to carry out research. The candidates must hold a doctorate, shall have equivalent professional experience or be curators.

The amount of the scholarship is 3000 €. The winners are accommodated at the Villa Medici for a period of four to six weeks (a participation of € 10 per day is requested for maintenance costs).

SELECTION COMMITTEE

The selection committee is made up of the director general of INHA, the director of the Académie de France in Rome, the director of the studies and research department of INHA, the project manager for history. art at the Académie de France in Rome and an outside personality. The commission meets once a year in the fall to choose the winners for the following year .

 APPLICATION FILE

Applications for the  2021 selection  must be submitted on the INHA platform  HERE  with a copy sent to the Académie de France in Rome – Villa Médicis (by email only see address below) no later than  the 15th November 2020  before midnight ).

The file must include :

  1. A letter of application addressed to the Director General of INHA and to the Director of the Académie de France in Rome – Villa Medici.
  2. A resume
  3. A detailed work program (4 pages maximum) in French, Italian or English including: a general presentation of the research; an argument explaining the need for the candidate’s presence in Rome as part of his research subject; research institutions where the documentation and archives to be consulted are located
  4. The information sheet,  at the following link , duly completed.

The application must be submitted online on the   INHA application platform with a copy by email to   Académie de France in Rome at  Patrizia Celli  ( patrizia.celli@villamedici.it ).

Start date: Monday July 13, 2020 at 12 a.m.
End date: Sunday November 15, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.

Report

The accepted candidates must send within two months following the end of their stay in electronic format an activity report to the director general of the INHA and to the project manager for the history of art of the Académie de France. in Rome – Villa Medici.
