Bioinformatics Staff Scientist position at the Center for Adipocyte Signaling

Center for Adipocyte Signaling (ADIPOSIGN) hereby announces an open Bioinformatics Staff Scientist position. We seek an outstanding candidate to play a major role in bridging experimental and computational analyses in this highly ambitious and interdisciplinary project, which seeks to gain in depth understanding of adipocyte signaling functions during development of obesity and the impact of human genome variations on the pathophysiological consequences of obesity.

The primary affiliation of the staff scientist will be with the Mandrup Group; in the Functional Genomics and Metabolism Research Unit, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark. However, the staff scientist will be working closely with Prof. Madan Babu and other partners in the center. We offer an exchange program to travel and work with the Babu Group at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, USA.

We expect applicants to:
* Have documented expertise in computational biology, NGS data analysis, processing of experimental datasets, network analysis and investigation of multi-omics datasets
* Proficiency in at least two of the following programming languages: Python, R, C++, Java, and a strong background in database development: SQL, graph databases, etc.
* Passion for complex data visualization and representing data into interpretable figures.
* Strong communication and collaborative skills and an interest in working in an interdisciplinary environment

Furthermore, it is highly desirable that the candidate has hands-on experience with NGS-related laboratory (wet lab) procedures.
