The Center for Genetic Epidemiology within the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences at the University of Southern California (USC) invites applications for a tenured or tenure track faculty position as Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate is expected to bring or develop an externally funded research program in genetic or molecular epidemiology. Current areas of research activity include studies of genetic susceptibility, biomarkers, metabolomics and the microbiome as they relate to health disparities for common chronic diseases and phenotypes including cancer and metabolic diseases including diabetes. Expertise in genomic analysis and in the initiation of population-based resources for studies of the molecular and genetic basis of disease is desired. The Center for Genetic Epidemiology is closely linked with the Departments of Population and Public Health Sciences, Translational Genomics and Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences is one of the nation’s leading research programs in epidemiology and biostatistics, with particular expertise in genetics research in diverse populations, such as the Multiethnic Cohort resource. The Departments of Translational Genomics and Computational Biology and Bioinformatics provide key expertise in the technological, methodological and statistical aspects of genome research. Together, these Departments offer opportunities for a wide range of research collaborations, leadership roles, teaching and mentoring of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
Candidates should have a demonstrated publication and funding record and leadership within the field of genetic population-based research and molecular epidemiology commensurate with stage of career. Collegiality, resourcefulness and motivation are highly desirable characteristics of the successful candidate. Please send curriculum vita, a brief summary of research interests, and names and contact information for three individuals who are familiar with academic accomplishments to:
