We are looking for a Research Scientist (f/m/d) with specialisation in nonlinear and integrated optics

The main topic of the project is the utilisation of refractive index fronts in silicon and silicon nitride waveguides for light manipulation. Interaction of light with such fronts leads to special Doppler-like effects and can be adjusted to stop light or to significantly compress pulses. Some of the effects are presented in our recent papers:

The goal of the work will be the experimental realization of the proposed effects, in a setup similar to our earlier experiments:

Job tasks

    • Simulation of front-pulse interactions with a split-step Fourier method
    • Development of waveguide designs with required dispersion
    • Ordering of silicon or silicon nitride optical chips
    • Realization of pulse compression experiment with pump and signal pulses
    • Realisation of light stopping experiments with storing and releasing pump pulses
    • Participation in teaching activities

Desired skills and experience

    • M.Sc. or PhD in physics/electrical engineering with focus on integrated/nonlinear optics
    • Demonstration of experience with pump probe experiments is beneficial
    • Demonstration of experience with integrated and waveguide optics setups is beneficial

Applicants should send a letter of motivation, a detailed CV, transcript of records, proof of completed training and/or university degree and the contact details of at least two referees.
