Postdoctoral Fellow of Pediatrics – Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research, IUPUI
A postdoc position is available for research studying the signaling network in Neurofibromatosis type 1 related malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) models. The Angus lab is interested in mapping the transcriptional, epigenetic, and kinase signaling changes associated with the genetic events that mark progression of benign plexiform neurofibromas to MPNST. Our hypothesis is that elucidation of these distinct pathway changes will uncover specific vulnerabilities that can be targeted therapeutically. Our state-of-the-art approaches include affinity purification mass spectrometry, next generation sequencing, and CRISPR screening in our murine and human models of MPNST development and progression.
MPNST is a pediatric sarcoma and our collaborative team of basic scientists and clinician-scientists at the Wells Center for Pediatric Research and Riley Hospital for Children is actively expanding our work to other rare sarcomas such as osteosarcoma and rhabdomyosarcoma to translate our findings to clinical impact.
Required Qualifications: Doctorate or terminal degree required. Ph.D. degree in cell & molecular biology, cancer biology, biochemistry, proteomics, genomics, or related field. Direct experience with proteomic and genomic techniques, including sample preparation and data analysis is advantageous. We routinely employ mammalian cell culture of primary and immortalized lines, lentiviral transduction to generate CRISPR knockout lines or inducible expression lines, standard molecular biology and biochemical techniques (RT-PCR, immunoblotting), pooled CRISPR screening, biochemical purification and preparation of samples for LC/MS/MS. Experience in data analysis using R or Python is preferred but not required.
