Position for Postdoctoral Fellow – Massachusetts General Hospital

A position for a postdoctoral research fellow is immediately available at the McCance Center for Brain Health at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in the laboratory of Dr. Christiane Wrann, located in the Charlestown Research Campus.

Our lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms of the beneficial effects of exercise and metabolism on the brain, such as increased neurogenesis or synaptic plasticity. This exciting area of interdisciplinary research has a high translational potential. For our recent publications, see: Wrann et al. Cell Metabolism 2012, Jedrychowski, Wrann et al. Cell Metabolism 2015, Islam et al. Nature Metabolism 2021. A postdoctoral fellow is sought to drive research projects to identify novel factors and characterize their role in exercise and therapeutic potential using mouse models and molecular-based screenings methods. Those projects will involve cutting-edge technologies, including single-cell RNAseq, high-resolution mass spectrometry, or advanced imaging technologies.

The Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School offer a unique world-class training environment and the opportunity to pursue research at the forefront of science.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates must have a recent Ph.D., D.V.M, and/or M.D. in neurobiology/neurosciences, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, metabolism, or a related field, less than four years of postdoctoral experience, and have a record of peer-reviewed publications. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in molecular biology techniques, biochemical or cellular imaging techniques. Experience with mouse physiology/behavior is a plus. A high level of motivation and independence and the ability to think critically are expected. Candidates must have good written/oral communication skills in English. Ph.D. candidates with soon-expected graduation are also encouraged to apply.

Complete applications, including a cover letter with a description of past research experience, a curriculum vitae, copies of relevant publications, the names of three references, and expected availability date, should be submitted via email to:
