Postdoctoral position in solid-state NMR of paramagnetic materials

France
Posted 3 years ago

OFFER DESCRIPTION

The project involves activities in the development of two central aspects: (i) develop solid state NMR theory of low temperature paramagnetic systems, with emphasis on the role of electron spin relaxation, and perform validation experiments using advanced low temperature DNP, and (ii) develop and apply a novel broadband solid state paramagnetic NMR to probe nuclei very close to the paramagnetic center with very wide signals and at quick relaxation. Activities such as collaborative management and supervision of students on specific projects are also expected.

The successful candidate will work on the development of new approaches for the study of the structure of paramagnetic materials. He / She will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on the description of materials for energy storage, catalysts and solid-state lighting, and will participate in methodological developments in solid-state NMR spectroscopy.

The candidate will join Andrew Pell’s team, working on the development and application of new methods in solid-state NMR of materials. It is a young and dynamic team. The team is part of the Very High Field NMR Center in Lyon (https://www.crmn-lyon.fr/), a state-of-the-art NMR center (spectrometers up to 1 GHz, liquids, solids, DNP) . The CRMN is a scientific institute affiliated with the CNRS, the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon and the University of Lyon. The CRMN hosts cutting-edge research groups, offers excellent working conditions and is located in Lyon, one of the most dynamic French cities offering an excellent quality of life.

Eligibility criteria

The candidate must hold a doctorate in chemistry, physics, or a related field. The ideal candidate would have scientific skills in solid state NMR. He / She will demonstrate qualities for knowledge transfer, creative thinking and good communication. He / she is expected to be proactive and autonomous while being willing to work in a team.
