The benefits of coconut oil on Parkinson’s disease

Coconut oil is rich in medium-chain saturated fatty acids (MCFAs), which are easily digested and metabolized by the liver into ketones. Ketones are an alternative source of energy for the brain, which is beneficial for people with Parkinson’s disease, who have a disturbance in brain energy metabolism.

Studies have shown that coconut oil can improve symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, including bradykinesia and muscle stiffness. In a study published in the journal “Neurology Research International”, patients with Parkinson’s disease were given coconut oil for four weeks. The results showed a significant improvement in bradykinesia, muscle stiffness and overall quality of life for patients.

Additionally, coconut oil can also help reduce inflammation in the brain, which is important in Parkinson’s disease because inflammation can contribute to neuron loss. A study published in the Journal of Neuroinflammation showed that coconut oil can reduce inflammation and improve mitochondrial function in the brain.

Testimonials
Many people with Parkinson’s have testified to the benefits of coconut oil on their symptoms. For example, a woman with Parkinson’s said she started taking coconut oil after reading testimonials online. She noticed an improvement in her tremors and an increase in her energy.

Another testimony comes from a man who has suffered from Parkinson’s disease for several years. He started taking coconut oil in capsule form and saw an improvement in his mobility and mood. He also said the coconut oil capsules were easy to take and didn’t cause any side effects.

dosage
There is no standard dosage for the use of coconut oil in people with Parkinson’s disease, as the amount needed may vary depending on individual needs. However, it is recommended to start with small amounts of coconut oil and gradually increase the dose until the desired effects are achieved.

The previously mentioned studies used different doses of coconut oil, ranging from 10 to 60 grams per day (2 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil Twice a Day).
