Arqus Talent Scholarship  

The  Arqus Talent Scholarship  is a  scholarship program  designed to attract and retain postgraduate talent from around the world.

We are looking for talented graduates and students who want  to pursue a Masters or Doctorate  in one of Arqus partner universities (Granada, Graz, Leipzig, Lyon 1, Maynooth, Minho, Padua, Vilnius and Wroclaw) including mandatory mobility in a second partner of Arqus.

The scholarship consists of a  living allowance of  €1,400.00/month  to cover the student’s living expenses, medical insurance and a material allowance.

Additionally, the Arqus Talent Scholarship  will cover tuition fees  at the student’s entry university.

The Arqus European University Alliance also wishes to support students with fewer opportunities under this scholarship program by providing  a special needs fund of €250/month  .

medjouel.com informs you that Priority will be given to refugees/asylum seekers, students with fewer opportunities and candidates holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree not obtained at Arqus University where they will undertake studies. master’s or doctoral degree or where they are currently enrolled.

Scholarship Terms

The scholarship is made up as follows:

  • Living allowance to cover living expenses, medical insurance and a material allowance: €1,400.00/month
  • Support for tuition fees at the student’s entry university for the duration of the scholarship
  • Fund for special needs: 250€/month

Students with fewer opportunities  will receive a Special Needs Fund (€250/month) in addition to the €1,400.00/month scholarship if one of the following criteria applies:

  • Refugees/asylum seekers (with respective status)
  • Students with family responsibilities (of children between the ages of 0 and 18; you must provide your child’s birth certificate) (or of parents/family members with certified disabilities/impairments; you must provide confirmation that you are caregiver)
  • Students with disabilities and learning disabilities (if you have a disability pass)
  • Students with chronic illnesses (medical confirmation)

Please note that  candidates who already receive a state scholarship can also apply  and will not be excluded, provided they meet the admission requirements. However, they are requested to indicate the source of public funding in their application.
Arqus scholarships  CANNOT be combined with other EU-funded scholarships  .

The scholarship will be paid throughout the student’s studies with the  following maximum duration  but not beyond the end of the funding period of this scholarship program, i.e. 30.09.2026:

  • Master’s students: depending on the regular duration of the chosen master’s program (maximum 12, 18 or 24 months)
  • PhD students: maximum 36 months.

The start of the scholarship  depends  on admission to the study program.

Students selected for this Arqus Talent scholarship must carry out a compulsory mobility in a second Arqus partner university. Mobility can take the form of:

  • Study period
  • Coaching
  • Research stay

The minimum duration of the mobility is 1 month. The maximum duration depends on the regulations of the respective university of entry.

The Arqus European University Alliance encourages applicants for multiple and longer stays. Candidates planning multiple and/or longer stays in their studies will be given priority in the selection process.

Successful applicants will also be expected to actively participate in Arqus activities and act as Arqus Ambassadors within their two Arqus Universities.

Please note that there will be a payment/semester. The second and subsequent payments depend on confirmation of registration and your academic results (transcript of records) as a master’s student and your progress as doctoral students (progress report confirmed by your thesis supervisor ).

Tuition fees will be paid/refunded to you directly. You will need to present confirmation of payment of tuition fees.

Grant agreement


All selected students must sign a  grant agreement  which governs the particular conditions of the Arqus Talent Scholarship Fund.

The first call,  intended for doctoral students only  , is open from March 31, 2023 to May 31, 2023  (11:59 p.m. CEST)  .

The second call,  intended for Master students only  , is open from May 3, 2023 to July 3, 2023  (11:59 p.m. CEST)  .
