HENRY CHARLES CHAPMAN FELLOWSHIP

The Henry Charles Chapman Fellowship is awarded biennially to members of academic staff of any university for work in the social sciences and recent history relating to the countries of the Commonwealth other than Britain and which is of relevance to the research interests of the Institute.

Chapman Fellows are welcome to use the Institute’s facilities and in addition are offered a desk in a shared office. Chapman Fellows are expected to play an appropriate part in the Institute’s activities.

This Fellowship is also open to academic members of staff of the University of London who have been closely associated with the Institute to carry out work overseas.

Applications should be sent to Kay Musonda, Institute Administrator,  including:

  • a filled application form
  • an up to date CV
  • two references
  • a short statement of the research to be undertaken during the period of the proposed Fellowship and/or publications expected to result from it.

Tenure: Between 3-12 Months
Funded (not more than £4,000)

Please note: The closing date for this year’s applications is 30 June 2023, with awards notified about two months later.
