Early Career Group Leaders for the Institute of Human Biology (IHB)

Switzerland
Posted 1 year ago

The Institute of Human Biology (IHB) is a new research center located in Basel Switzerland dedicated to advancing human biology and the use of human model systems for translational research. Our interdisciplinary and highly interactive research environment bridges academic and pharmaceutical research, connecting biologists, engineers, and data scientists. We are closely associated with Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development (pRED) organization, and collaborate locally and with leading academic scientific institutions in Switzerland and worldwide to tackle grand challenges focusing on highly ambitious, complex scientific questions.

We have opened a broad search for Early Career Scientists to establish their own independent and exploratory research program at the IHB with a very competitive funding package. The call is open to mature scientists direct from PhD or Postdoctoral training that will push the frontier of human models system research across three major focal areas:

1) Tissue and Disease Biology (particularly Immunology, Neurobiology, Metabolism)

2) Synthetic Biology and Molecular Technologies

3) Advanced Bioengineering and Bioprinting

Group leaders at the IHB have the freedom to do research in a collaborative and well-funded environment, and are empowered to take risks to seek impact and develop their research vision.
