To support this strategy, Mines Saint-Étienne is recruiting a junior faculty member in Management Science with a specialization/interest in innovation and entrepreneurship, and in issues related to sustainable corporate performance and innovation.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

The position available is for a Maitre Assistant (permanent junior faculty member) in Management Sciences assigned to the Training and Research Center Institut Henri Fayol.

The Institut Henri Fayol, a training and research center at Mines Saint-Etienne, focuses on current transformations in the digital, ecological and industrial transitions that are at the heart of the efficiency, resilience and sustainability of industry and territories. It develops a multi-disciplinary strategy combining strong skills in mathematical and industrial engineering, computer science and intelligent systems, environmental and organizational engineering, and responsible management and innovation, in conjunction with the EVS UMR 5600, LIMOS UMR 6158 and COACTIS research units.

The recruited person will align his/her research project with that of COACTIS Research Unit. COACTIS is the Research Unit in Management of the Lumière Lyon 2 and Jean Monnet Saint Etienne Universities. COACTIS has a staff of 110 (including 68 permanent or associate Professor, and 28 doctoral students), bringing together three main areas of research. The research unit is characterized by its multi-disciplinary dimension (strategy, finance, marketing, HR, IS, etc.) in the research in Management Science. Its scientific project is to study changes in organizations and the behavior of actors, and to assess their links with different forms of performance.

Rationale for recruitment:

Training Context and objectives

Mines Saint-Etienne is developing training courses as part of the Microelectronics and IT Systems Engineering (ISMIN) and Civil Engineering (ICM) cursus. The aim here is to reinforce and develop training courses (lectures, tutorials, practical work) in the ISMIN cursus, including Management Science courses (Innovation Management, Strategy, Digital Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Business Model, Organization and Human Resources, etc.). The program also provides support for students with a view to their employability (internships, project follow-up, etc.). At Mines Saint-Etienne’s Aix-Marseille-Provence campus, particular attention will be paid to technologies and innovations related to digitalization (microelectronics, IoT, cybersecurity, etc.).

Research Context and objectives

Mines Saint-Etienne is developing work in line with current transformations in the economic world and society, in particular ecological and digital transitions. The aim is to provide theoretical frameworks for innovation, entrepreneurship and its various models. The fields studied are varied, from the entrepreneurial project holder to the innovative start-up, innovative organizations and even territories. Rooted in the context of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Campus, the specific features of this campus (microelectronics and digital technology, local industrial fabric, etc.) will be taken into account when carrying out research work.

The position is based on the Aix-Marseille Provence campus. Participation in activities operated by the Saint-Etienne and Lyon campuses and international collaborations are encouraged.

PROFILE:

Holder of a PhD in management sciences with a specialization/interest in innovation and entrepreneurship and issues related to sustainable corporate performance and innovation.

Essential skills, knowledge, and experiences:

  • Teaching experience (at graduate or postgraduate level) is desirable, in the following fields: innovation, marketing, strategy, entrepreneurship, finance, Human Resources, Corporate Sustainable Responsibility, etc.
  • An operational grounding in the form of corporate experience or a pragmatic approach to Management Science issues will be a real plus. A cross-disciplinary vision with an affinity for business operations, technology and digital issues (digitization, sustainability, IoT, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to publish research in peer-reviewed journals and develop a strategy for the dissemination of one’s research results.
  • Proficiency in English is required. Most teaching and research activities can be carried out in English. However, in accordance with the French law, the candidates will have to demonstrate to the committee a sufficient ability to interact daily in French with fellow faculty members, administrative staff and students .

Valued skills, knowledge, and experiences:

  • Qualification by the French Conseil National des Universités (CNU) section(s) (6th section CNU) will be positively considered.
  • Experience with distance or hybrid (in-person + remote) teaching.
  • A significant international experience will be appreciated.
  • Experience in industrial partnerships and collaborative research with the industry.
  • Participation in actions of scientific culture and affinity for outreach activities in general, are a plus.
  • Particular attention to technologies and innovations related to digitalization (microelectronics, IoT, cybersecurity, etc.), in line with the activities carried out at Mines Saint-Etienne’s Aix-Marseille-Provence campus.
