Posted 9 months ago

LUT Business School is looking for a non-tenure track post-doctoral researcher or associate professor in sales and customer relationships.

The position will complement the competences of the existing sales research group in our International Marketing Team. The person selected will work on research and education in collaboration with the business school staff and researchers of other disciplines. The team at LUT Business School is led by Professor Liisa-Maija Sainio.

We are looking for a motivated person with a can-do attitude who is a good fit for our sales research group. Research interests could include fields such as sales management, personal selling, or customer relationships and customer value-related topics in marketing. Research experience related to the effects of digitalization or AI on sales and marketing or the usage of quantitative methodology are considered an advantage. We value strong analytical skills and evidence of successful project work and international research collaboration. Documented evidence of teaching excellence and experience in the acquisition of competitive external funding (e.g., Business Finland, Research Council of Finland, EU) are considered an advantage. Furthermore, we are looking for candidates with strong skills in research communication and dissemination and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team. The appointed person is expected to contribute to the teaching and master’s thesis supervision of a new sales-related master’s programme that is currently in development and will start in autumn 2025 in Lahti. The programme’s language of instruction is mainly Finnish.

The post-doctoral researcher (usually within eight years of receiving a doctoral degree) or non-tenure track associate professor (usually eight or more years after receiving a doctoral degree) is required to have a doctoral degree in economics and business administration or another field relevant to the position and the ability for independent scientific work. The ability to work with different industrial and societal stakeholders and a solid publication record in international academic journals are an advantage.

In addition, according to LUT University regulations, an associate professor (non-tenure track) is required to provide proof of high-level research work and publications and of the ability to lead a research group and raise research funding.

What we offer

  • An opportunity to work in a team of academic experts and develop academic expertise in sales and marketing
  • An opportunity to make an impact on industry and society through research projects
  • A fixed-term contract of 2+2 years or 4 years (depending on the career track level) in LUT’s non-tenure track system, which may lead to a permanent position as an associate professor

Employment relationship and salary

The salary is based on the current collective agreement for Finnish universities. The annual salary range of post-doctoral researchers is approximately 49 300–57 500  euros (plus a holiday bonus), and that of non-tenure track associate professors is approximately 57 500–66 300 euros (plus a holiday bonus), depending on the qualifications and experience.

The work will start with a six-month trial period on LUT’s Lahti campus in June-August 2024 (negotiable).
