What is Stipendium Hungaricum?
Stipendium Hungaricum, being the most prestigious higher education full scholarship program of the Hungarian Government, offers a wide range of courses for international students with excellent academic track records.

What is included in the scholarship?
- Free tuition for the entire duration of studies, no application or exam fee
- Monthly grant for students of Bachelor, Master or PhD program (the amount will not cover all your expenses in Hungary, it is only a contribution to your living expenses in Hungary)
- Contribution to accommodation
- Free medical insurance for the entire duration of a BSc, MSc or PhD program
- You may work part-time as a student (max. 30hrs a week), but you will not earn a full living wage
Please note that you will need some extra resources for plane tickets, private accommodation, living costs, books, and study materials!
Who is who?
APPLICANT = YOU
Who applies for the scholarship to study for free
SENDING PARTNER = Your country (by passport)
The institution/ministry/organization that nominates students and does the first round of selection
UNIVERSITY OF DEBRECEN = Where you want to study
The university that conducts the entrance exam and does the second selection
Tempus Public Foundation = TPF
The organization that coordinates the program and awards the scholarship (after the nomination and entrance examination process)

In some countries, you will also have to submit your application to your Sending Partner, according to their instructions.
We strongly advise you to contact your Sending Partners as soon as possible!

In case you apply for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship for 2025/26 and you are not interested in the self-financed studies please do not fill out the UD online form, there is no need to submit your application to the University of Debrecen directly.
Please make sure to submit your documents through the Tempus Public Foundation’s online system: https://apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu
In case you are nominated by your home country, we will automatically receive your application from Tempus Public Foundation.
