Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full time, fixed term position as a Research Assistant with School of Medicine at the National University of Ireland, Galway.
This position is available from 1st April 2020 to contract end date of 28th February 2021.
Job Description:
The position is designed for the research and development of smart endovascular renal denervation verification and efficacy device.
Duties:
- To provide assistance in conducting research activities, including planning, organizing, conducting, and communicating research studies within the overall scope of a research project.
- To coordinate and perform a variety of independent tasks and team activities involved in the collection, analysis, documentation and some interpretation of information/results.
- To present information on research progress and outcomes to others responsible for the research project.
- Conduct literature and database searches and interpret and present the findings of the literature searches as appropriate.
- Assist in analysis and interpretation of results of own research.
- Write up results from own research activity (e.g. as project report) for review by PI, including preparing technical reports, conclusions and recommendations.
- Contribute to the publication of findings.
Essential Requirements:
- A Master’s degree in biomedical engineering/science.
- Track record in a research and development environment in the cardiovascular space.
- Candidate must be highly motivated and passionate about developing new devices and have strong documentation, oral and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Requirements:
- Medical device experience in the cardiovascular space is highly desirable.
- Device modelling, prototyping, and testing, including pre-clinical testing.

Salary: €22,609 – €24,651 per annum (/pro-rata – for part time or shorter contracts)
Start date: Position is available from 1st April 2019.
