The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the American University of Beirut currently seeks for its Department of Health Management and Policy a candidate with a doctoral degree in Health Systems, Health Policy, Health Management, Health Economics and Financing or related disciplines at the ranks of Assistant, or Associate Professor depending on qualifications and experience. Applicants with methodological training and/or experience are preferred. Visiting positions may also be considered. Fluency in Arabic is desirable.
The ideal candidate should:
- Possess primary teaching and research interests in health systems, health policy and / or health management
- Provide evidence of research productivity and ability to attract research funds
- Provide evidence of leadership and mentorship in health systems and policy research
- Have a record of teaching health systems and policy
- Have a record of collaboration on research and on promoting health systems and policy
- Have knowledge of public health issues in the Arab world and of the Eastern Mediterranean region.
Successful candidates are expected to actively participate in the teaching program of the Department of Health Management and Policy as well as contribute to its research, development of the health policy track, PhD program and outreach activities.
As part of the Graduate Public Health Program (GPHP), FHS offers an MPH program in three concentrations (Health Management and Policy; Epidemiology and Biostatistics; Health Promotion and Community Health) and an MS and a PhD Degree in Epidemiology. The GPHP has been accredited by the US Council on Education for Public Health since 2006. FHS also offers an MS degree in Population Health and Environmental Health and an Executive Master in Health Care Leadership, and is developing a Masters Degree in Biostatistics. FHS also contributes to teaching courses related to public health within the Faculty of Medicine.
