With 73 editions under its belt, the call to apply for the MAEC-AECID scholarships for art, education, science and culture has been published today in the Official State Gazette .
This call is part of the initiatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (MAUC) of Spain, through the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), for the promotion of culture, art, the science and education as a means of international projection of Spain abroad , as well as to reinforce the relevance of these areas as fundamental tools for development .
The MAEC-AECID scholarships contribute part of their programs to the development approach as a State policy that promotes knowledge transfer, capacity building and opportunities creation within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Agenda 2030 and in particular in relation to goal 4.b “By 2020, significantly increase the number of scholarships available to developing countries worldwide.”
Other programs integrated in this call encourage the promotion of cultural relations and Spanish culture abroad . All of them have in common the offer of training and learning opportunities in various cultural, artistic, scientific and academic disciplines.
The Royal Academy of Spain in Rome (RAER), the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), the College of Europe and the Reina Sofía Superior School of Music (ESMRS) are the institutions with which the AECID carries out this call. At the university level, the Agency collaborates closely with Spanish Universities through its participation in the Observatory of University Cooperation for Development, whose structure is part of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE). The Embassies of Spain and the Cultural Centers and Training Centers of the AECID offer their spaces and resources so that the fellows and fellows who come to their offices have a unique training opportunity for their future professional.
In addition, the call for MAEC-AECID scholarships is supported by the private initiative. To this end, and by signing the corresponding sponsorship agreement, the Ramón Areces Foundation collaborates in financing the scientific diplomacy scholarship program.
