Sessional Instructor Spring 2020 – PHYS 211, Department of Physics and Astronomy

Position Description

The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach the following course during the Spring 2020 term:

PHYS 211– Mechanics

Course Description:
Introductory Newtonian particle mechanics and rigid bodies in rotational equilibrium: Kinematics, Newton’s laws, conservation of momentum and mechanical energy.

Spring 2020 term dates:    April 30 – June 30, 2020

Teaching Schedule:    MWF 12:00 – 13:50, W 14:00 – 15:50

• Current curriculum vitae
• Concise statement of teaching philosophy
• Teaching dossier describing past teaching experience

Three letters of reference are required, sent directly to phasgradstudies@ucalgary.ca no later than the application deadline.

A Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy is a strong asset; demonstrated teaching experience is required.

Remuneration is calculated according to the Collective Agreement, Schedule B. Please see the Faculty Association’s website at www.tucfa.com for further information regarding conditions of employment and remuneration.

As per the Collective Agreement, the Department of Physics and Astronomy will adhere to the right of first refusal terms (Section 23.12.1 and 23.12.2) for Sessional Appointments.
