At the University of Agder, there is a vacant 100% position as associate professor / associate professor / senior lecturer. The position is linked to the Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences, Department of Psychosocial Health. The main workplace is currently Grimstad. Accession by appointment.
The faculty has four institutes; Department of Health and Nursing Science, Department of Nutrition and Public Health, Department of Sports Science and Physical Education and Department of Psychosocial Health.
There are five undergraduate programs, six master’s programs and one PhD. program in health and sports science at the faculty. In addition, we have a number of continuing education programs. The faculty has three research centers; Center for e-Health, Center for Caring Research and Top Research Center Food and Nutrition in a Lifecourse Nutrition perspective. There are active researchers in the faculty’s various disciplines.
The Department of Psychosocial Health provides educational opportunities for approx. 370 students and in addition to a bachelor’s program in nursing education offerings in family therapy, mental health work, intoxication and addiction problems as well as sexology. It is approx. 30 scientific staff at the institute. The Department of Psychosocial Health has an interdisciplinary research environment that explores issues that often have relevance and link to the content and focus of education. The institute has research groups within Dialogical practices , RESEX (REsearch group in SEXology), as well as municipal health work «A society for all».
Responsibilities
Current work assignments are subject and coordination responsibilities for courses and any study program, teaching, skills training, practice follow-up and supervision of students. The main focus will be on psychosocial work with children and adolescents, but depending on the competence of the applicant, assignments will also be included in one or more studies in the institute’s study portfolio (nursing, mental health work, psychosocial work with children and adolescents, environmental therapeutic work, family therapy). and sexology). Guidance of master’s students and PhD candidates will also be relevant depending on the applicant’s competence.
It is expected that the person employed will engage in research and development work, and contribute to strengthening the institute’s research activities in psychosocial health.
Necessary qualifications
The position requires education in health or social sciences, pedagogy / special education, social science or psychology at the master’s degree level.
Applicants must also be able to document work experience from psychosocial work with children and adolescents.
The criteria for employment are stated in the Regulations on employment and promotion in teaching and research positions.
For positions such as associate professor, UiA has criteria for employees’ educational competence.
For positions as first lecturer / university lecturer, documented relevant practical-pedagogical competence is required on the basis of education or teaching and supervision. Applicants who are unable to document such basic competence when hiring must obtain this within two years, or possibly undergo UiA’s course in university pedagogy.
The working language is Norwegian, and the person hired must be able to speak Norwegian or another Scandinavian language at the time of employment. It is also required that the person who is appointed, in addition to Norwegian, is fluent in English, written and oral.
Wanted qualifications
- practical experience from municipal services and / or public health work aimed at psychosocial work with children and young people
- education and / or practice in family therapy
- professional development and research in psychosocial health in collaboration with the field of practice
- experience from teaching and supervision experience in higher education

The position is paid in accordance with the State’s salary regulations, salary plan code 1011 associate professor, NOK 552 800 – 667 200 bto per year, code 1198 first lecturer, NOK 552 800 – 667 200 bto per year, or code 1009 university lecturer NOK 472 200 – 594 400 bto per year. For especially well-qualified applicants, higher salaries can be considered. From the salary, statutory contributions go to the Government Pension Fund.
