Research Scientist

Following multiple partnerships with many leading Pharmaceutical companies and research institutes, we are now adding a key appointment to our group, Research Scientist – Quantum Mechanics. This position is integral to support the Company’s growing array of projects and appetite for scientific innovation. This role would be based in our modern offices in Miami or Oxford where you can reap the benefits of our endless supply of office snacks or you can be based remotely.

As the Research Scientist you will be responsible for

• • We are looking for an excellent Research Scientist – Quantum Mechanics to work closely with our team of AI experts, drug designers and software engineers to develop and implement cutting edge techniques and algorithms.
  • Implement Quantum Mechanics based algorithms and research prototypes to test their impact on our drug discovery programs
  • Work with drug designers to translate feedback back into algorithmic improvements
  • Work with AI scientists and software engineers to implement these algorithms into our technology platform
  • Stay informed on new technology developments, analyse them for potential benefits to our platform and devise plans for their implementation

What will you bring to the role?

• • PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or a related subject area
  • Understanding of electronic structure theory and common techniques.
  • Experience automating processes using algorithms and heuristics
  • Experience in Unix/Linux operating system
  • Good programming skills, preferably Python for scripting, data analysis, pipelining and tool development
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to rapidly learn new skills
  • Passionate about the idea of discovering novel therapeutics by application of technology

Desired skills and experience

• • Experience of Artificial Intelligence algorithms and their applications to QM modelling
  • Experience using QM toolkits (e.g. PSI4 or ASE)
  • Experience working on active small molecule drug discovery projects
  • Experience applying QM for understanding protein-ligand interactions or applying QM for understanding retrosynthetic pathways
  • Experience in developing and maintaining internal software, including the creation of well documented user-friendly tools
  • Open source contributions or publications in academic journals demonstrating experience in scientific software developments
  • Track record of developing and implementing QM algorithms
