Responsibilities

The candidate is expected to conduct independent as well as collaborative research activities, to publish the results and to contribute to the academic activities in the Centre. The candidate will be part of a team which also comprise several PhD students with different disciplinary backgrounds.

The team’s individual research projects will all address the current strong eHealth trend of increased availability and sutilisation of personal health data. Such data have the possibility to transform both clinical and administrative decision making and can form the basis for novel citizen-centric services. For instance, person-generated data (e.g. from personal health devices or “wearables”) allow remote and/or automated monitoring of health status and activities, can support patients’ self-care and prevent exacerbation, improve the patients’ experience of care, and may inform clinical decision making at the point-of-care. While increased sutilisation of personal health data offers new opportunities, there are also several questions related to effective, efficient and responsible data collection and utilisation. For instance, questions relating to ownership, sharing and privacy take on new forms. Good models for the ethical use of data in healthcare services and management must be developed and evaluated. Infrastructures and tools to facilitate data integration and utilisation, as well as solutions for patient control, oversight and consent management, need to be researched. Overall project description can be obtained by contacting margunn.aanestad@uia.no.

We welcome applications which address these or similar challenges with a perspective based on the applicant’s disciplinary background. We ask the applicant to develop a research proposal for research that will be of relevance to person-generated data.
