Position Description
The Departments of Surgery and Oncology, Alberta Health Services-Calgary Zone and University of Calgary in partnership with The Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute invite applications for a Contingent Term academic position at the Assistant Professor level. The successful applicant will have their primary appointment in the Department of Surgery with a joint appointment in the Department of Oncology.
Qualifications include an MD or equivalent, have an active, or eligible to obtain, a Fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) in General Surgery with clinical fellowship training in Endocrine Surgery, or Surgical Oncology with a focus on Endocrine Surgery, and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate academic excellence in clinical research, quality improvement, or education. They must have a proven track record of excellence in research as demonstrated by publications (at least five) in high impact peer-reviewed journals, presentations at academic meetings and the ability to demonstrate successful competition for peer-reviewed funding at the national level. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will become a member of The Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute in the Cumming School of Medicine. Contributions to trainee supervision, mentorship and teaching will be expected. The successful individual will have an appointment with the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Sections of General Surgery and Surgical Oncology with a joint appointment in the Department of Oncology. The successful candidate will be expected to take full call within the Section of General Surgery.
