The Arid Zones Experimental Station (EEZA–CSIC) would require the incorporation of a postdoctoral researcher within the EMERGIA program, and whose line of research is Plant Functional Ecology addressing the impacts of climate change on vegetation and the biogeochemical functioning of Mediterranean and semi-arid ecosystems. We are interested in collaborate in a study that analyzes whether plant eco-physiological strategies (e.g. use of resources) and the economy of leaves (i.e. the balance between construction costs and C fixing and nutrient acquisition) are linked to the water relations of plants in extreme ecosystems limited by water.
The candidate should be proficient in both functional plant ecology at the species and community level, in eco-physiological tools and stable isotope techniques (as proxies of water uptake and use) to explain the adaptations of plants to these extreme environments and the structure, composition and functioning of plant communities in a context of Global Change.
