The MRC Toxicology Unit, University of Cambridge, has a position available for an academic Respiratory Histopathologist. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who wishes to combine pathology-based research work with diagnostic clinical practice. The post will combine diagnostic reporting at Addenbrooke’s/Papworth Hospital with the oversight of the state-of-the-art MRC Toxicology Unit Core Histopathology Facility and their own investigator-led work.
The facility is fully equipped for digital pathology, multiplex immunohistochemistry/ in situ hybridisation methods, TMA construction and quantitative digital image analysis. The successful applicant will hold an honorary contract with the NHS at the Addenbrooke’s site (approx. 20% time commitment), with the remainder of the time being spent on Unit-based Research work, which must be in the area of respiratory pathology. The post-holder would be expected to apply for their own research grants, although research support will be provided.
Applicants must hold a PhD and be a recognised leader in the advancement of their subject in the international field. The ideal candidate will have an in interest in the biology of exposure-related lung diseases, including malignant, interstitial lung disease and hypersensitivity. They will be a trained diagnostic histopathologist and either have received or about to receive their CCT.
This is an open-ended position with MRC funding available up to March 2023 in the first instance, renewable every five years.
