HJF is seeking an ARI (Acute Respiratory Infections) Postdoctoral Fellow to support the Infectious Disease Clinical Research Program (IDCRP) located at the IDCRP Program Coordination Center in Rockville, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to IDCRP.

The Fellow will develop, execute, and support research projects related to acute respiratory infections. This involves providing epidemiologic guidance and performing advanced statistical analysis on surveys, cross-sectional studies, case-control studies, cohort studies (e.g. observational, longitudinal cohort) and/or clinical trials, as well as laboratory studies related to ARI among US military personnel and their beneficiaries.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develops, executes, and supports clinical research projects with mentorship from the ARI Epidemiologist and the Research Area Director. (25%)
  2. Develops statistical analysis plans; works with databases and programming staff to develop data sets; and conducts analyses for the clinical research projects. (25%)
  3. Prepares and presents research findings at conferences, through publication in peer-reviewed medical journals, and in reports to USU, DoD, sponsors, and others. (20%)
  4. Assists in the preparation of new clinical research protocols and amendments. (20%)
  5. Assists with ARI program direction and management activities. (10%)
  6. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience in the design, conduct, and analysis of epidemiologic (e.g. observational, longitudinal cohort) studies; statistical analysis of longitudinal data; SAS, STATA, or R proficiency required; knowledge of biomedical science and clinical research; prior experience in infectious diseases preferred; ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form; ability to make effective presentations; publication in peer-reviewed medical journals preferred.

Minimum Education: PhD required. Preferably in Biostatistics or Epidemiology.

Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: 0-5 years of relevant work related experience required.

Work Environment: Clinical Research Setting.

Background/Security: Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier I investigation/Public Trust and a Common Access Card (CAC).
