Position Description

The Department of Geomatics Engineering in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary has an opening for a Sessional Instructor position to teach the following course in Spring 2020.

ENGG 525 Engineering Entrepreneurship
Lecture 01 Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs 09:00-11:45
Tutorial 01 Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs 13:00-14:15

Course Description:
This highly experiential course helps the engineering student build a personal practice in entrepreneurship, design thinking, and human-centered design for innovation. Topics include the entrepreneurial mindset; idea generation, validation, and feasibility analysis; product pretotyping and prototyping; and the basics of business design and execution. Leading edge practical tools and frameworks are examined and put to use in authentic learning activities that teach the student to get to first revenues.

Requirements:
The successful candidate will be expected to have earned at least a Master’s degree in engineering and must have a demonstrated background in the subject matter related to the course. The successful candidate must also have very good previous teaching performance or show the potential for very good to excellent teaching ability, and a strong commitment to engineering education.

The programs offered by the Department of Geomatics Engineering are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). To maintain the accreditation of our programs, faculty are required to be licensed to practice engineering in Alberta. The successful candidate will be expected to hold professional engineering licensure with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or with the equivalent association in another Canadian province.
