IP Paris – Provost from the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and from the Ecole polytechnique (F / M)

The Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) is a public higher education and research establishment which brings together five Grandes Écoles of engineers of excellence: the École polytechnique (EP), ENSTA Paris, ENSAE Paris , Télécom Paris and Télécom SudParis. Within IP Paris, these five schools, brought together on the same campus, adopt an international approach to higher education and research and combine their strengths to gain impact and visibility.
IP Paris thus delivers master’s and doctoral degrees, training through research administered and implemented by the Graduate School in close collaboration with the communities of teacher-researchers and the academic bodies of IP Paris. The Graduate School is made up of doctoral schools (the multidisciplinary ED of IP Paris, co-accredited with HEC Paris, and the ED of mathematics co-accredited with the University of Paris-Saclay), the management of master’s programs and an administrative department.
Within IP Paris, École Polytechnique combines research, education and innovation at the highest scientific and technological level. His training promotes a culture of excellence with a strong dominance in science, open to a great humanist tradition. Through its training offer – bachelor, polytechnic engineering cycle, master, MSc & T, doctoral program, doctorate, continuing education – École Polytechnique trains decision-makers with a strong multidisciplinary scientific culture by exposing them both to the world of research and to that of the company.
The IP Paris research center (CoR) comprises 30 laboratories, 25 of which are joint research units with the CNRS. The CdR IP Paris works both at the frontiers of knowledge and on major interdisciplinary scientific, technological and societal issues. Strengthening the CoR IP Paris is at the heart of the development strategy of IP Paris.

Main mission :
The position of Provost IP Paris is directly associated with that of Director of Education and Research at EP. In close collaboration with the President of the Polytechnic Institute of Paris and of the Polytechnic School, the Provost IP Paris has for mission the definition of the academic strategy in all its aspects, research, training and innovation. As such, the Provost IP Paris is the chairman of the Teaching Research Committee of IP Paris, interacts closely with the heads of departments and participates in the Executive Committee of both EP and IP Paris. As part of his duties, he is responsible for the planning and implementation of training programs and the development of the IP Paris research center with a view to strengthening the training-research-innovation synergy.
To carry out its missions, the Provost IP Paris relies on the team of the Teaching Research Committee with regard to IP Paris, and on the directors of research and teaching of the EP.

Main activities
• Define, propose to the Executive Committee and set up a vision for IP Paris in its fields of competence and organize the definition of its academic strategy;
• Design and implement, in interaction with the Departments and heads of establishments, the training provided by IP Paris;
• Propose and implement, with the bodies of IP Paris and in consultation with the co-supervisors of IP Paris, the research policy;
• Manage partnerships with French, foreign and international organizations contributing to student training and research;
• Organize interactions between teaching and IP Paris laboratories;
• Propose the policy for promoting the results of research work and technology transfer and ensuring its implementation;
• Promote innovation in conjunction with teaching and research;
• Propose and implement the recruitment policy for teaching and research staff, and in particular teacher-researchers;
• Act as an ambassador for IP Paris, its training and research;
• Preside over the bodies relating to teaching and research, first of which the Teaching and Research Council;
• Prepare the institution’s budget in the fields of teaching and research.
As academic manager specifically for the École polytechnique, the Provost IP Paris will carry out the same activities within the EP. In particular, he will chair the School Council. He will be supported in his duties by the Education, Research and Innovation Directors of the EP.

Profile:
Position to be filled by secondment, or by contract (public law).
Holder of a doctorate and a title allowing him to direct research, the candidate Provost IP Paris is a scientific personality recognized for his skills in higher education and research as much as for his managerial skills.
